Audience comment

"....the concert was out of this world!"

"From the first moment of their performance, it was crystal clear that this is a handpicked group of top-level singers. Duncan Aspden moulds the sound and guides the performance with sensitivity and a depth of experience. Tempi in the Faure were carefully chosen to create a languid, lyrical performance which glowed  throughout."      Robert Porter, Artistic Director, Brandenburg Choral Festival

"The concert was a very special treat. I've heard a lot of good singing in [Marlborough College] Chapel, but nothing quite as beautiful as that."

"It was so good hearing those voices soaring up..."

"It was an absolute delight to attend Excalibur's concert last week in the beautiful island church of St Clement Danes (as in, "the bells of"), and a great pleasure to be introduced to Frank Martin's fantastic and little known Mass. It's a very demanding piece vocally, and this was truly exceptional singing for an amateur choir, crisply conducted by Duncan Aspden who brought out a wide range of colours from his singers in both this and the Fauré Requiem that followed. This was supported by virtuoso organ playing from their guest organist Timothy Wakerell who more than made up for the more familiar orchestral accompaniment. Altogether, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon in London."        Zoe Martlew, cellist and composer

     "Wow!"
